They are particularly effective if spammed from both Inns and harassing from multiple sides at once. Otherwise, keep them on swords and constantly moving, checking for resource buildings or Builders. They can switch between swords and rocks, but the only time you would want to switch to rocks is against cavalry or possibly a fleeing hero in a last-ditch effort. Hobbits are well worth their cost of 200 resources and have a reasonable build time. Just like their summoned brethren, they are decent against production buildings and only take 50% structural damage, but make sure you have about three battalions before trying to take a production building in range of the Fort. They have low health and armor, so harassing is their only role, for they are useless in the front lines of your army where Guardians excel. They are great harassers for the Dwarves, for they are faster than every unit the Dwarves have except Battlewagons. Hobbits complement the Dwarven army nicely with their good speed.
